Job Title: Program Underwriter
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Program Underwriter to join our client in a role that supports key business operations and contributes to important organizational initiatives. This direct hire opportunity is based in West Chester, PA and offers a Hybrid work arrangement. The individual in this position will evaluate and manage commercial insurance risks, contribute to business growth objectives, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support profitable underwriting results. Success in this role requires strong analytical abilities, relationship building skills, and the ability to balance day to day underwriting activities with broader business goals.
Compensation:
$90,000 - $116,000/year
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, normal business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Program Underwriter:

• Analyze new and renewal commercial insurance opportunities, assess risk exposures, and make underwriting decisions that support profitability and portfolio performance.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with agency partners, insurance carriers, and internal teams to improve service delivery and identify growth opportunities.
• Review policy transactions, endorsements, inspections, claims history, audits, and related documentation to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and risk management standards.
• Monitor business results, evaluate market conditions, and contribute to business planning efforts that support regional and organizational objectives.
• Provide guidance to team members, assist with training initiatives, and participate in operational projects that enhance underwriting quality and efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills for the Program Underwriter:

• Bachelor’s degree required along with the ability to obtain a Property and Casualty insurance license within the designated timeframe if not currently licensed.
• Three to seven years of commercial Property and Casualty underwriting experience with delegated underwriting authority; experience working with multiple insurance carriers is preferred.
• Professional insurance industry designation such as Associate in Underwriting (AU) or a comparable credential preferred, along with exposure to program administration or portfolio management environments.
• Knowledge of specialty commercial risks, including outdoor recreation, hospitality, or similar industries, is advantageous.
• Strong communication, leadership, organization, and technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience working within automated business systems.
