This role ensures appropriate staffing coverage, clear work assignments, and effective deployment of personnel to meet operational, safety, and patient-care needs. The Supervisor routinely evaluates campus activity, staffing levels, and operational conditions and makes timely adjustments to assignments, schedules, or coverage to maintain a safe and efficient environment. The Supervisor also supports the onboarding, training, and professional development of Public Safety personnel to ensure consistent performance and adherence to departmental standards.
In addition, the Supervisor provides leadership during safety, security, and behavioral health incidents, taking action in dynamic or high-risk situations, particularly in critical clinical areas such as the Emergency Department. The role includes overseeing incident investigations, ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining required records and reports, and coordinating with Nursing Supervisors, hospital departments, Facilities, and external law enforcement or first responders. Acting as a key liaison, the Supervisor communicates operational updates, staffing concerns, and emerging risks to the Director of Public Safety and ensures departmental practices align with hospital policies, accreditation requirements, and healthcare security best practices.
