Position Summary 

The Sommelier position will curate an exceptional wine selection and provide personalized recommendations to our guests while upholding the highest standards of service.  

Role Responsibilities 

• Curate and coordinate the wine selection to complement the menu offerings.  
• Provide wine recommendations based on guests' preferences and food choices.  
• Ensure proper storage and handling of wines to maintain quality.  
• Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for staff and customers.  
• Collaborate with the culinary team to create wine pairings for special events or tasting menus.  
• Stay updated on industry trends, new releases, and emerging winemakers.  
• Monitor inventory levels and place orders for wine supplies as needed.  
• Any other tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor.  

Knowledge, Experience and Skills   

• 3+ years of experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining restaurant.  
• WSET certification is considered preferred.  
• Strong knowledge of different grape varieties, regions, and vintages.  
• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on enhancing guest satisfaction.  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, bilingual a plus.  
• Experience in food and beverage service, including meal preparation and food handling.  
• Familiarity with POS systems for order processing and cash handling.  
• Ability to assist in bartending duties when needed.  
• Proficiency in cashiering and handling transactions with attention to detail.  
• Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.  
• Keen attention to detail and passion for service excellence.  
• Professional demeanor, polished appearance with the ability to exceed guest's expectations.  
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.  
• Strong work ethic and customer-focused approach.  
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.  

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.  
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.  
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs at times.  
• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the work area and property.  Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.  
• Climbing steps regularly.  
• Prolonged periods standing.  

Compensation 

• The hourly pay rate for this position is $17.00 per hour plus tips. A tip credit applies. 
• The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment experience, job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
