Guardian Proservices is seeking a consistently hard-working, Janitor Custodial Specialist based out of  Laguardia International Airport New York  who is committed to reliable quality service and customer relationships. Job Summary

It is the intent of the basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities that any building be kept neat and clean at all times. These minimum requirements should be referred to as a guide, rather than a limitation to, the services required to maintain a building effectively. Staff will be required to perform the necessary work to maintain the optimum level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by Guardian

Pay Type: Paid Weekly

Pay: $21.75/hr

Afternoon shift:  1:00pm-9:30pm
Overnight Shift: 8:45pm-5:30am

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY
1:00pm-9:30pm 

Overnight shift: 8:45pm-5:30am

Job Description

Essential Functions

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Sometimes using ladders, dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures.
• Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions. perform other incidental seasonal tasks
• Sometimes using ladders, dusts and washes walls, windows, ledges, cleans ceilings and dusts, remove trash, heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
• Move boxes, furniture and grates to clean areas, applies protection applications to walls floors and equipment. Removes protective applications from wall floors and equipment.
• Able to use Heavy weight style B floor Machine and carpet extractor or detailing machine.
• Floor & Project Technicians will maintain all types of floor areas through the process of stripping/refinishing hard surface floors and shampooing carpeted areas.
• Labeling chemicals correctly, operating chemicals dispensing units,
• measuring chemicals correctly.
• Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, reporting all problems to the supervisor.
• Shampoo assigned carpeted areas.
• Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
• Follow all safety and sanitation regulations, reporting problems to the shift supervisor.

Carpeted Areas

• Empty waste baskets and replace liners.
• Dust/clean tops of office furniture.
• Vacuum all carpeting.
• Spot clean soiled areas on carpets as needed.
• Sweep and mop tile areas
• Wipe/clean vending machines and appliances.
• Clean sink and counter areas.

Non-Carpeted Areas

• Empty waste baskets and replace liners as needed.
• Sweep and spot mop tile floors.
• Complete damp mop tile floors.
• Dust/clean cleared desks and surfaces of tables.

Miscellaneous

• Must keep janitor’s closet neat and orderly.
• Equipment (such as vacuums) must be properly maintained at all times.

Knowledge and Skills

• Working experience of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities is a MUST.
• Must have good listening and verbal communication skills .
• Must have the ability to speak English and Spanish
• Must maintain a neat appearance. A uniform is required at some worksites.
• Must attend periodic training and safety meetings.
• Must be able to understand and anticipate the needs of the clients.
• Must be punctual.

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge in airport operation cleaning ( preferred)
• 3-5 years of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work desired.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to perform the following repetitive movements: stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 40 pounds of office and facilities equipment (cleaning products, tools, and ladders) and trash and the ability to safely use equipment provided.
